Present: Ann Wrobbel, Colleen Beemer, Alice Ray, Kim Wernette, Kevin Stevens, Charles Smith Guests: Pat Sundquist, Ken Lind, Bev Shaw,

Meeting called to order by President Ann Wrobbel at 6:00 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance recited. Minutes of Regular Meeting of April 4, 2022 read.   Motion by Alice to approve minutes, seconded by Kim, motion carried.

Public Comments: Deb from the VFW reminded everyone of the 90th anniversary coming up on May 21st, and is looking for help setting up, there is a cornhole tournament at 10 am, and an open house from 3-6. She is also looking for volunteers to help put flags at the cemetery. There will be a pancake breakfast on Mother’s Day. The Honor Flight is June 6-8 anyone that would like to write letters to the Veteran’s is asked to call, they need to be turned in by May 31st.  Pat Sundquist asked if there was going to be a Farmer’s Market, Ann introduced Charles “Bubba” Smith as the new Street Assistant.

President’s Report:  Motion by Kim to accept the new spending policy, Seconded by Colleen, Roll Call Vote: 4 Yeas 0 Nays, motion carried.  Motion by Ann to hire Melissa Lazzaro to replace the previous Clerk Seconded by Kim, Roll Call Vote: 4 Yeas 0 Nays, motion carried.  Motion by Ann to allow Kim to be the temporary Treasurer Seconded by Colleen, Roll Call Vote: 4 Yeas 0 Nays, motion carried. Motion by Kim to adopt Ordinance 001-an Ordinance to provide for reduction in the number of trustees on Village Council, seconded by Ann, Roll Call Vote: 4 Yeas, 0 Nays, motion carried. Motion by Kim to approve the bills, expenses, and payroll, seconded by Ann, Roll Call Vote: 4 Yeas 0 Nays, motion carried.                                     

Treasurer’s/Clerk’s report: Bank reconciliation was not done due to not having the bank statements yet, a final draft of the Master Plan was presented, should be finished in the next 30 days,  Melissa and Kim are working on learning QuickBooks and the positions, hoping to be back to normal next month, Kim  confirmed the appointment with the  accountant, all passwords have been changed, MDOT permit is completed, a special permit will be needed for the Memorial day parade, Kim and Melissa are asking to working on Tuesday’s this month because of all the extra work. Motion by Ann to allow Melissa and Kim to work on Tuesdays in May to get everything in order, seconded by Colleen, Roll Call Vote: 4 Yeas 0 Nays, motion carries

Cemetery: Memorial statue at the cemetery is falling apart, will look into getting it fixed

Pine Tree Park: Working on getting benches, cleaning up horseshoe pits and ball field, banners are going up, so far $960 in banner fees, would like to get fertilizer for the ball field, Motion by Kim to purchase 4-6 bags of fertilizer, seconded by Ann, Roll Call Vote: 4 Yeas, 0 Nays, motion carried.

Bromley Park: Not quite time for the well yet, it should be purged when its opened,

Pocket Park:  Kim checked the electrical and discovered a smaller flag pole might be necessary, it was pointed out that Bromley Park needs a new flag pole more than Pocket Park

Ordinances:  Ann has spoken with Corey numerous times about the violations, he has turned them over to the County, she also spoke with Sherrif Miller about getting an intern to do ordinance violations, however that is not possible.

Community Activities:  Story Walk in the Park at the library

Research & Information: Kim made stars for the sponsors, and will start going door to door for donations, there will also be a bottle and can drive made stars for firework

Street Commissioner: New concrete on the hill is halfway done, then on to Bromley, and Pine Tree Parks. Brush has been picked up, the base of the flag pole at Bromley Park is deteriorating and it  needs to be replaced, it is unusable and has been taken down, need to think about replacing bleachers,

New Business: VFW is looking for volunteers to place flags on Veteran’s graves, Ann is looking for volunteers to help clean up the cemetery

Public Comments: A resident asked how the Village planned on using the ARPA Funds, an audience member also noted the meetings seem to be running smoother

Motion to adjourn at 7:06 by Ann. Seconded by Alice. Motion Carried
