Regular Meeting Minutes
President Ann Wrobbel called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm
Pledge to the flag was recited
Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present, Steve Norton-present
Minutes of Regular Meeting March 6, 2023 were presented
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept minutes, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
Public Comment: TNR Mecosta will be in the Village to try to help the cat population
Ann Wrobbel read the President’s Report: Kim is putting out canisters for fireworks donations, there is already one at King’s, Steve’s Repair and will be accepted at the Village Office on Thursdays from 9-4, Cemetery clean-up day is April 15, 2023 at 10:00 volunteers are welcome, there’s a lot of limbs down from the wind storm.
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to approve all bills, expenses and payroll, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerk’s Report: nothing at this time
Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report: Kim read the bank balances, Council was given a check register repot and deposit report
Alice Ray made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers report and the Clerks report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
John Fribley read the Enforcement Officer Report: Mr. Fribley is still making contact with residents and things are slowly getting cleaned up, but he will continue working on cleaning things up
Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: sold 1 cemetery plot, and they might be buying a few more
Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: there are 2 more horseshoe tournaments, the Easter Egg Hunt went very well, there were lots of people there, the bid for the new dug out is $6,500, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to move forward using sponsors and banner money for the new dug out, not to exceed $6,500
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to set the lifetime of the picnic table or bench sponsorship at $300, or yearly at $50, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Bromley Park Report: Nothing new
Alice Ray read Pocket Park and Research & Information: the bench in Pocket Park is broke, Bubba will fix it
Community Activity Report: Steve is working on an Art Extravaganza contest to be held in July, the Easter Egg Hunt was a big success, it was postponed because the park had too much water from the storm, 105 tickets were given out for drawings and every child received a prize and there were 1,700 eggs, we put boxes out to collect the eggs for next year. The Easter Bunny was a big hit, the Mecosta County Optimist Club helped with the pictures with the Easter Bunny, $310.00 was spent for the Easter Egg Hunt. It was suggested to get a $25 gift certificate for Lucinda for playing the Easter Bunny.
Steve Norton and Ann Wrobbel have collected $2561 so far in banner money and have 2 new banners and have collected $500 in cans for the fireworks, cans can be dropped off at Steve’s Repair, Remus Repair and the Village Office on Thursday from 9-4, can drive boxes for fireworks will also be out at the horseshoe tournaments and softball games
Ann got a quote for the backstop for $500 for everything from Rob Pullman
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to hire Rob Pullman to remove and install and new back stop, not to exceed $500, money to be taken from the ARPA Fund, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Alice got a quote for lumber and screws for the pavilion at Bromley Park for 6 16 ft long 2×4’s for $70.26 and a 3lb box of screws for $3.98 and a delivery fee of $20.00, Brice Wernette will be installing at no charge
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to order lumber from Remus Lumber for the pavilion repairs at Bromley Park, not to exceed $150, money to be taken from ARPA Fund, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Colleen got a quote for bleachers for the ball diamond for $9,000 and $910 for shipping
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to order bleachers for the ball diamond not to exceed $10,000, money to be taken from ARPA Fund, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Steve got a quote for the fencing for the horseshoe pits from Taylor Construction and Painting for $9,000
Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to have Taylor Construction and painting to do the fencing around the horseshoe pits not to exceed $9, 000, money to be taken from ARPA Funds, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Kim checked on quotes for a garbage day in the Village from Republic Services 2 30-yard roll offs for $1,125 and 4 trucks for $321/hr. and 51.36 per ton, she will call a few more places for next month, she also checked on the price for a well in Pine Tree Park, Courtright no longer installs them, so she will call around for quotes
Kevin is still researching security cameras, he got a quote for the security lights at $99.80 each, we need 6
Steve Hubbard and Jeff Collins donated a door and hardware for the cemetery
Kevin Stevens read the Street Commissioner report: He will be putting the trash cans out, need to have the trash service turned on
Public Comment: a resident warned everyone about vehicles being broken into
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the bid from Fates Tree Removal for $3,200 for tree removal in the cemetery, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to adjourn, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
