Regular Meeting Minutes

President Ann Wrobbel called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present

Minutes of Regular Meeting April 3, 2023 were presented

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept minutes with changes-quote for screws, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Public Comment: None

Ann Wrobbel read the President’s Report:  discussed possible revenue ideas, banner fund is at $2,731 and can drive for fireworks is at $517.50, May 20th the VFW is putting flags in the Cemetery, they are looking for volunteers to help

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to approve all bills, expenses and payroll, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerk’s Report: Council was given a copy of the budget and informed that tree cutting was not budgeted and cuts need to be made, a budget workshop was suggested for next month, and quarterly, council was also given a copy of an email from MDOT explaining that parks, cemetery and sidewalks cannot be paid with Act 51 money, Steve Norton resigned from his Trustee Seat, will post for Trustee seat.

Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report:  Kim read the bank balances, Council received April’s Check register, she will be opening an account for the firework money, property taxes are coming up, she would like to send out a newsletter with taxes this year

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers report and the Clerks report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

John Fribley read the Enforcement Officer Report: Mr. Fribley is still making contact with residents and things are slowly getting cleaned up, but he will continue working on cleaning things up, the owner of the house that burned is making progress as well.

Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: Ann showed everyone the plaque that goes in the cemetery for the VFW for giving the village land, this plaque was supposed to be done in 1986 but did not get done. There was discussion on where to put the plaque, the cemetery clean-up day went well.

Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: the bleachers have been delivered, there are 2 State Sanctioned horseshoe tournaments coming up, one this Saturday and next Saturday, the 1st home baseball game is May 7th, the dugouts are almost done, will be getting plaques for the dugout donors

 Bromley Park Report: Nothing at this time

Alice Ray read Pocket Park and Research & Information: looking into blight grants, and a grant for a mural on the side of the building

Community Activity Report: There are canisters at Conley’s Bakery, Woody’s, Fate’s, and King’s for the fireworks, there are 12 vendors so far for June 30th, looking at August for a possible garbage day for residents.

Jerry Wallace presented Council with a quote for outhouses to put in the parks

Kevin Stevens read the Street Commissioner report: Out of Town

Public Comment: Bubba will get stared on a list of flowers

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to adjourn, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
