Regular Meeting Minutes
President Ann Wrobbel called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm
Pledge to the flag was recited
Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-absent, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present
Council agreed to have Kathryn Kerr take meeting minutes in Melissa’s absence
Minutes of Regular Meeting June 5, 2023 and Special Meeting June 15 2023 were presented
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept minutes as written, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
Public Comment: Deb-August 6th a charter bus is going to National Home MI Days Tour, picnic lunch included, Blue is donating half of his money from his lemonade stand during the car show to next year’s fireworks.
Ann Wrobbel read the President’s Report: discussed email from Morton Township about the M20 property, would like to start a coed softball tournament, recommending the entry fee of $150/team, all monies earned would be used for the ballfield and Pine Tree Park, can drive as of last run is $730.00 raised for fireworks, Ann won’t be turning them in anymore, will be storing them in the barn, Banner fund has raised $3,031.00 all paid for.
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to pass on the Morton Township offer on the M20 property they are interested in on M20 at this time, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to charge softball tournaments a rate of $150/team, trophies and referee fees will be taken out of the entry fee, revenue to be used for ballfield and Pine Tree Park, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to approve all bills, expenses and payroll, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Melissa Lazzaro was absent, no Clerk’s Report.
Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report: Kim read the bank balances, no deposits in June
Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers Report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
John Fribley read the Enforcement Officer Report: Mr. Fribley is still making contact with residents and things are slowly getting cleaned up, but he will continue working on cleaning things up, Mr. Fribley asked to be able to contact the Village attorney if he had questions, he needs to have approval from President and Pro-tem to contact the Village Attorney
Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: Steve Hubbard donated a door, looking to install it soon
Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: There is a horseshoe tournament July 8th, 2 picnic tables came up missing, and the Sherriff’s Department has been notified
Bromley Park Report: The well is up and running
Alice Ray read Pocket Park and Research & Information: Chicken Dinner-Sept 2nd, $13.00 for chicken, potato salad, beans, roll, butter and a drink. Pocket Park: Requesting cement pad be installed and leg on bench fixed
Community Activity Report: Parade July 4th at 11am, a bid from Trayer Water Wells for well at Pine Tree Park with a hand pump that can be left in all year, fireworks donations $7,390.24 as of July 3, 2023, would like to get pricing on calendars, the Blight Elimination Grant was accepted targeting 2 buildings for removal, clean up, and seeded or sod put down, the State will hold a lien on the property for 7 years, $114,000.
Alice Ray made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to accept the bid from Trayer Water Wells for a well and hand pump at Pine Tree Park, not to exceed $10,000, to be paid for using ARPA Funds, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to accept the bid from Central Asphalt for $100, 852 to overlap Pearl, Penn, and Poplar, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Kevin Stevens read the Street Commissioner report: Getting some more cold patch, bid from Central Asphalt for Pearl, Penn, and Poplar
Public Comment: Linda said they had a great start to Music on the River, they have a tent coming for next event for Music on the River, and will have 1 food booth, only 1 problem, the restrooms ran out of toilet paper, there will be 3 music floats in the 4th of July Parade, the Village will continue to block off Bromley Park during Music on the River, Jerry talked to Bill Bradley during the Car Show about a Burnout Contest
Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to adjourn, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
