Regular Meeting Minutes

President Ann Wrobbel called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present,  

Minutes of Regular Meeting January 2, 2022 were presented

Colleen Beemer made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to accept minutes, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Public Comment:    None

Ann Wrobbel read the President’s Report: Ann presented Resolution #23-005 Resolution to Censure of Village Council Member, Ann nominated Steve Norton for the open Trustee seat.

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept Resolution #23-005, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to nominate Steve Norton to the open Trustee seat, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

ARPA Workshop on March 23, 2023 at 4:30pm, back up day will be March 30, 2023 at 5:00pm

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen to approve all bills, expenses and payroll, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerk’s Report: Council was given a copy of all budgets, we discussed amendments in Asset, and Major Street funds

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to approve necessary amendments to the budget, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report:  Kim read the bank balances, Blue Triton sent a $2,000 donation for the well installation and removal, she will get with Courtright’s to look at the installation paperwork to see if it can be open year around.

Alice Ray made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers report and the Clerks report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

John Fribley read the Enforcement Officer Report: Mr. Fribley has sent several letters and contacted several residents, most were working on it and then the snow hit, he doesn’t expect people to dig stuff out off the snow, once spring gets here, he’s hoping to see progress

Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: update on the downed headstone, we can put it back up, VFW is going to make a plaque, and will try to fix it in the spring. A new map of the cemetery needs to be made.

Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: Colleen is looking into bleachers and possibly having the dugouts re-done, she’s waiting on an estimate

 Bromley Park Report: Nothing new

Alice Ray read Pocket Park and Research & Information report: Nothing new in research, she’s waiting for spring to put up the lights and flowers

Community Activity Report: The Easter Egg Hunt will be April 1st at 1:00, we have received several prize  donations from Blue Triton, still looking for donations for eggs and candy.

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to spend up to $350 for the Easter Egg Hunt, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Kevin Stevens read the Street Commissioner report: Bubba and Steve are planing lumber from the trees that were cut in Pine Tree Park they would like to make picnic tables and benches to have people sponsor. Kevin asked Council if they would consider changing the rate for putting up and taking down the Christmas Ornaments from $75 to an hourly rate.

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Alice Ray to change the rate for putting up and taking down Christmas Ornaments from $75 to and hourly rate, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

We have to get a licensed electrician to make a box for Consumers for power on the poles for Christmas Ornaments, he’s trying to find someone for a quote, he’s also waiting on Consumers for a charge for the hookup

Public Comment: Linda gave an update for Mecosta Revitalization- bands are booked for Music on the River, Elvis will be the first show and Kate Taylor  for the 2nd show, they will probably have a food truck for the 2nd show. The car show will be on Main Street, Kim will get a permit from MDOT for the road closure. She also asked if there was any decision made on the sale of Village land, there has not been a decision.

There will be a Public Hearing March 30th at 4:30 and a Special Meeting immediately following for adoption of the new fiscal year’s budget
