Regular Meeting Minutes

President Ann Wrobbel called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present,  

Minutes of Regular Meeting February 6, 2023 were presented

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept minutes, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Public Comment:  Jackie asked what summer activities are being planned

Ann Wrobbel read the President’s Report:  Ann has put 2 canisters out for fireworks donations, she is planning a can drive as well, there will be a drop box at Steve’s Repair and at the Village Office-open on Thursday’s from 9-4, she will also make arrangements to pick them up. Ann is looking into possibly having a trash day for Village residents.

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to approve all bills, expenses and payroll, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerk’s Report: Council was given a copy of the proposed budget for fiscal year 23-24 too look over before the meeting on the 30th

Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report:  Kim read the bank balances, she opened new accounts for the Community Promotion money and the Ball Diamond money, Courtwright’s suggested not having the well open all year due to having to involve EGLE

Alice Ray made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers report and the Clerks report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

John Fribley read the Enforcement Officer Report: Mr. Fribley has been talking with residents and knocking on doors, once the weather is nice, he’s hoping to make a major impact by June.

Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: the fallen headstone will be set up in the spring, will be working on a new map.

Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: 2 State Tournaments in June, received an estimate for re-doing the dug-outs, there may be a few people willing to sponsor them, it will be put out for bids, bids will be due by March 30th

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to set the lifetime of the picnic table or bench sponsorship at $300, or yearly at $50, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

 Bromley Park Report: Nothing new

Alice Ray read Pocket Park and Research & Information report: looking into Municipal Grants and a grant writer, still wants the cement under the picnic table and the solar lights installed

Community Activity Report: The Easter Egg Hunt will be April 1st at 1:00, there are lots of prizes, would like to get cookies and or donut holes, the VFW will be lending us their coffee makers for hot cocoa and coffee, there will be a workshop to stuff eggs on Sunday March 12th at 1

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to spend up to $75 to purchase a megaphone, using Community Promotion funds, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Tree removal will be put up for bids-due March 30th

Steve Norton and Ann Wrobbel have collected $500 so far in banner money and have 2 new banners

Kevin Stevens read the Street Commissioner report: fixed the plow, truck, and snow blower, Kevin has leftover steel for the end of the pavilion at Pine Tree Park he will try to find a piece for Bromley as well. It would be $5,300 for the drops from Consumers and would still have to hire an electrician to install.

Ann Wrobbel thanked Jerry for working so hard during the last storm, he did a really good job plowing

Public Comment: Bubba asked about flowers for this year,  and he will need fertilizer for them

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to spend up to $800 from Community promotion fund for flowers and fertilizer, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel is looking into getting a dunk tank during the car show,  Council needs to look  for vendors and or crafters for that day.

There will be a Public Hearing March 30th at 4:30 and the Annual Meeting immediately following for adoption of the new fiscal year’s budget
