Regular Meeting Minutes

President Ann Wrobbel, called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present, Kevin Stevens-present, Charles Smith-present

Minutes of Regular Meeting February 3, 2025, were presented

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Alice Ray to accept minutes as is, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Public Comment: Ed Richter- Selling to Fox Sports, over the next year they will be adding 50 new employees, in addition to retaining the current staff. Linda Howard looking into getting  trees for Bromley Park to donate from Mecosta Revitalization. Leone thanked the guys for getting all the snow off the roads

Ann Wrobbel read the Presidents Report: We are looking for a Marshall for the 4th of July parade, if anyone has ideas, please let Ann know.

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to increase the pavilion rental from $15 to $25, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Alice Ray to decrease Office Hours from 9-4 to 9-2, roll call-Ann Wrobbel-yes, Kim Wernette-no, Alice Ray-no, Colleen Beemer-no, motion fails

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to pay General Fund bills with check #11352-11368 & EFTs for $6,438.06, Major Road Fund with check #2120-2123 for $8,200.51 Asset Fund with check #1671 for $381.45, for a total of $15,020.02, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerks Report: Nothing at this time

Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report: Bank balances as of 1/30/2025: General Fund: $17,909.34, Asset Fund: $30,930.82, Banner Fund: $2912.46 Community Promotion Fund: $10,005.59, Fireworks Fund: $315.74, Local Road Fund: $97,057.79, Major Road Fund: $109,879.68

Alice Ray made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers Report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to have the remainder of the money for the flagpole not covered by ARPA to come out of Community Promotion, roll call-all yeses. Motion passes

Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: Nothing at this time

Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: 3 horseshoe tournaments scheduled starting in June

Bromley Park Report: Nothing at this time

Alice Ray read Research & Information: Nothing at this time

Community Activity Report:  Easter Egg Hunt April 12th rain date April 13th, Art show Aug 30th, working on Community Yard Sale

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to spend up to $350 for the Easter Egg hunt, roll call-all yeses, motion passes,

Banner renewal-all Council Members try to get a couple new businesses

During Heritage Days the Women’s Softball team has asked to rent the softball field on July 19th, Council will allow for a donation. 3rd weekend of August is our tournament hoping for a 2-day tournament

Kevin Stevens read the Street Commissioner report: John dealer sent quotes for a salt spreader $1,300-$1,900

Public Comment: Mr. Zimmerman is trying to cut costs at the county level, would like to lower building permit costs, spoke with Stephanie & Lindsay about the liquor license, County will be doing the MET Grant again this year, we need to get bids for the outhouses.

Ed Richter-encouraged Council to read and understand the lease, and to come in with a positive attitude, he believes this will be a good move for the community.

Linda Howard- she is sending community service workers our way, Mecosta Revitalization is still planning on purchasing the roll down curtain, they also want to purchase shade trees and let the Village decide where to put the next meeting is March 12th at 10:00am, and she told Ed it has been a pleasure to work with him and Lakeside.

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to allow Mecosta Revitalization to purchase 4 shade trees for the Village, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to adjourn, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
