Regular Meeting Minutes
President Ann Wrobbel, called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm
Pledge to the flag was recited
Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Terrie Caswell-present, Deb Steig-present, Kevin Stevens-present
Minutes of Regular Meeting July 6, 2026, were presented
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded Colleen Beemer to approve minutes with corrections, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
Public Comment: Don Stern came to see the Elvis show, showed up 2 hours early to get an accessible parking spot, there isn’t one in Bromley Park, Village needs to get one up or can be fined. Also was upset because Linda Howard made him leave the parking lot, the Village closes the park, including the parking lot, during Elvis because there is so many people and it’s too hard for people to see with cars in the parking lot. Mr. Zimmerman updated on County happenings; the Commissioners are having a closed session on the Tonkin Drain Report.
Ann Wrobbel read the President’s report: Ann Got a plaque for Alice Ray for her many years of service, she will deliver it to her this week. We got a new fireworks company for next year, Kim has secured the date. Ann received complaints on this years saying it wasn’t long enough, she will be making a fireworks committee, including council members, there’s a meeting at the VFW on Saturday August 8, at 10:00am. Need to come up with a 2-person system for counting cash donations, will be working on assigning committees, would like to combine Pocket and Bromley Park
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to pay all bills, payroll, and expenses, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerks Report: Melissa read the budget amendments, Council agreed with all except the Council Wages Line, per The General Law Village Act all officers shall receive no other compensation for services performed for and on behalf of the village during their term of office, the only compensation allowed is what is provided by ordinance. Melissa asked Council if she could cut her hours, beginning August 27, 2026, she will be leaving at 2:00.
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to approve all budget amendments, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report: Bank balances as of 7/30/2026: General Fund: $41,532.39, Asset Fund: $17,343.35, Banner Fund: $4,700.00, Community Promotion Fund: $4,168.25, Fireworks Fund: $1,297.72, Local Road Fund: $82,868.59 Major Road Fund: $134,360.08
Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to send 75% of $1,419 from the Public Safety Revenue Sharing to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department, as required, and to send the remaining 25% to Sheriff Miller for the purchase of a new dive boat, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers Report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes
John Fribley read the Enforcement Report: John drove around the village on July 9th, to check on properties that he sent letters to last month. He issued 3 citations for those properties as cleanup had not been done. The three citations were rejected by 77th District Court due to a technicality. He will re-check the properties this week and re-issue the citations if cleanup has not been done. He had village maintenance remove a temporary commercial business sign from the highway right away. Sent a letter to 341 Main St, and requested village maintenance to remove two temporary commercial business signs from the highway right away.
Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: Looks good, Mike hasn’t had to mow much due to no rain
Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: There is one more horseshoe tournament on September 19th
Bromley Park Report: Nothing at this time

Pocket Park: Nothing at this time
Community Activity Report: Nothing at this time
Street Commissioner Report: Kevin got the flagpole up, will be checking on potholes this week, and grading the roads. Getting a new push mower, will have Mike brush hog the sides of the road.
Public Comment: Linda Howard reported the street sign on Washington and Main is missing, there’s a lilac bush on Washington and Poplar that needs to be trimmed, September 19th at noon at the Little River School is the wrap up for the America 250. Jerry requested council get a microphone system, it’s hard to hear some council members
The Art Fair is September 5th they would like to borrow some picnic tables and the pop up canopies, they have 2 banners to put up, one on the curve on M-20 and the other on the fence at the airport
