Regular Meeting Minutes

President Ann Wrobbel, called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present (on speaker phone), Kevin Stevens-present

Alice Ray is present on speaker phone from her home in Mecosta, MI

Minutes of Regular Meeting July 7, 2025, were presented

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded Colleen Beemer to accept minutes, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Public Comment: Chris Zimmerman-Commissioners met with their lawyers about Tonkin Drain, they don’t have much power to stop it, Chris sent out 300 letters to residents, 28 people responded 23 are against it. The road commission is coming to speak to the commissioners about getting more money to fix more roads.

Ann Wrobbel read the Presidents Report: Need to order alcohol for Hercules Tournament, Ann and Kevin recommend Chuck Wiersma for the maintenance position, Ann would like to hire Mike to mow the entire village until Chuck gets caught up on everything.

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to spend $1,991.95 for the beer for the Hercules Tournament, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to hire Chuck Wiersma for the maintenance position at $15/hr., roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to hire Mike Rodabaugh to mow the village for the rest of the season at $15/hr

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to pay General Fund bills and payroll with check #1650-1663 & EFTs for $7,626.32, Asset Fund with Check #1679-1681 for $15,065.81, Community Promotion Fund with check #1034 for $100, Local Road Fund with check #600, Fireworks Fund with check # 2003 for $8,000, for a total of $31,392.13, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerks Report: presented Council with current budget, and last years budget at this time, things are looking good so far.

Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report: Bank balances as of 7/31/2025: General Fund: $17,913.82, Asset Fund: $21,693.38, Banner Fund: $3,396.24, Community Promotion Fund: $5106.13, ARPA Fund $728.74 Fireworks Fund: $92.87, Local Road Fund: $101,893.82, Major Road Fund: $129,742.51

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers Report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel read the Enforcement Report: Nothing to report, things are looking good

Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: Mike’s doing a good job mowing.

Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: Hercules Tournament on August 9th

Bromley Park Report: Nothing at this time

Alice Ray read Research & Information: Looking for grants for bathroom at Bromley Park, need an approximate cost for 1 for the grant.

Alice Ray read Pocket Park: Nothing at this time

Community Activity Report: Beer tent, need volunteers for tickets and security, tickets will be $3 each, ordered 2 canopies, the DJ is volunteering for this event, Senior Tournament had a great turnout, we should think about adding food trucks for next year.

Street Commissioner Report: Has received several complaints on the main driveway, wants to level the hill and bring in some crushed asphalt, it will cost approximately $1,200, also needs to fix the steering column in the work truck. Get an extra set of keys to everything for the office in case of an emergency.
