Regular Meeting Minutes

President Ann Wrobbel, called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present (on speaker phone), Kevin Stevens-present

Alice Ray is present on speaker phone from her home in Mecosta, MI

Minutes of Regular Meeting January 5, 2026, were presented

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded Colleen Beemer to accept minutes, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Public Comment: Mr. Zimmerman updated county happenings, purchased 3 new Tahoe’s, purchasing the Pizza Hut building for living quarters for the EMT’s for retention.

Ann Wrobbel read the Presidents Report: Nothing for this month

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to pay all bills, payroll, and expenses, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerks Report: Working with Insurance Company on Village Assets values, a representative from MML will be here on Thursday February 5th, 2026, to go over some questions. Melissa is working on the next fiscal year budget, and an employee handbook. Also mentioned that Council should keep in mind minimum wage is continually going up, look into employee wages. Reminded Council they need to schedule a public hearing and the annual meeting to approve the next fiscal year budget, scheduled for March 3, 2026, at 5:30, needs to be published in the Pioneer.

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to publish notice of public hearing and annual meeting in the Pioneer, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report: Bank balances as of 1/29/2026: General Fund: $33,306.45, Asset Fund: $7,306.06, Banner Fund: $3,753.11, Community Promotion Fund: $4,555.10, ARPA Fund $729.11 Fireworks Fund: $1,586.07, Local Road Fund: $86,068.39 Major Road Fund: $129,251.54

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Kim Wernette to renew the current CD out of Major Street Fund, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers Report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel read the Enforcement Report: There are a few properties that need attention before Spring, Ann will contact john and they will go look them over.

Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: The ice storm was hard on the cemetery, the VFW has a clean-up day scheduled in May, would like to try to schedule another one earlier,

Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: Nothing for this month, would like to thank Ann and Kim for taking care of the water samples

Bromley Park Report: Nothing for this month

Alice Ray read Research & Information: Alice is still looking for grants to put up lights at the ballfield

Alice Ray read Pocket Park: Still waiting on cement for the flagpole, will have to wait for Spring now.

Community Activity Report: Easter Activity will be March 28, 2026, at 2:00, the VFW is going to let us have it there again. Ice Mountain has already sent some donations

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Alice Ray to allow up to $600 for the Easter Activity, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Street Commissioner Report: got the snowblower back from Burnips, it was under warranty

Public Comment: A resident asked if a theme for the 4th of July Parade has been decided yet, it will be the America 250th Celebration

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to adjourn, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
