Regular Meeting Minutes

President Ann Wrobbel called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present

Minutes of Regular Meeting January 2, 2023 were presented

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept minutes as written, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Public Comment: None

Ann Wrobbel read the Presidents Report: The softball dates will be out in March the Village will be having the tournaments the next 3 years, Ann would like to get a food truck in for those dates.

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Alice Ray to approve all bills, expenses and payroll, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerks Report: Melissa presented Council with a proposed 24-25 budget, a Public Hearing was scheduled for March 4, 2024 at 5:00pm with the Annual Meeting scheduled for 5:30 the same day with the regular meeting to follow at 6:00pm.

Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report:  Kim read the bank balances, The bank still has good CD rates, Kim presented Council with a quote for 2 new computers for the office.

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to deposit $100,000 from the Major Road Fund into a CD at Mercantile Bank, all yeses, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Alice Ray to spend up to $2,500 from ARPA Fund to upgrade the office computers, all yeses, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers Report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

John Fribley was absent, Ann Wrobbel read the Enforcement Officer Report: Things are going smooth, the individuals that had hearings, one has made payment arrangements to cover the Village attorney fees, ordered by the court, the other has not and the court has issued a show cause hearing via zoom on February 28, 2024.

Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: Nothing for this month

Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: The Easter Celebration will be in Pine Tree Park again in March, the water at the new well needs to be tested again due to excess chlorine, it needs to be flushed really well and will retest on Wednesday February 7, 2024. The horseshoe dates usually come out in February, Ann will get them to Colleen when she gets them.

Bromley Park Report: Nothing at this time

Alice Ray read Research & Information: Nothing at this time

Alice Ray read Pocket Park: Alice would like to look into a new pattern for the book house, Kim has been filling the Giving Tree every few days, we could use more mittens and gloves, will take it down the first part of March.

Community Activity Report: The Easter Celebration will be March 23rd at 1:00, the rain date is March 24th or March 30th. Calendar sales went well, had 100 printed at a cost of $290. Would like to get them done earlier next year.

Kim is looking into grants to get bathrooms at both parks.

Kevin Stevens read the Street Commissioner report: N. Webber Street needs major fixing, waiting on an estimate from Central Asphalt, the plow truck needs a new cutting edge, it will be approximately $900-1000. They would like to look for a push box to add to the tractor to help push snow.

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to approve up to $1,500 for a new cutting edge for the snow plow and labor, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to allow Kevin to spend up to $3,000 for a push box for the tractor, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Public Comment: The old gas station put in a new well, wondering if there is anything going in the building

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to adjourn, roll call-all ayes, motion passes
