Regular Meeting Minutes

President Ann Wrobbel, called the Village Council to order at 6:00pm

Pledge to the flag was recited

Roll call: Ann Wrobbel-present, Kim Wernette-present, Melissa Lazzaro-present, Colleen Beemer-present, Alice Ray-present (on speaker phone), Kevin Stevens-present, Charles Smith-absent

Alice Ray is present on speaker phone from her home in Mecosta, MI

Minutes of Regular Meeting April 7, 2025, were presented

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept minutes with changes, add flowers purchased from Behind Bars, roll call-all ayes, motion passes

Public Comment: Chris Zimmerman, they received 41 MET applications, they have $700,000 in excise money. Jerry asked when Rob was going to start power washing the buildings

Ann Wrobbel read the Presidents Report: Looking into new banners for the poles on M-20

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to pay General Fund bills with check #11382-11387 & EFTs for $7,150.61, Asset Fund with check #1674 for $10.00, Community Promotion with check #1027-1029 for $82.59 for a total of $7,243.20, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Melissa Lazzaro read the Clerks Report: Presented Council with the 24-25 budget, we ended up $353.75 over budget, Melissa requested we transfer $353.75 from Community Promotion to balance the budget.

Kim Wernette made a motion seconded by Ann Wrobbel to transfer $353.75 from Community Promotion fund to General Fund to balance the budget, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Kim Wernette read the Treasurer’s report: Bank balances as of 4/30/2025: General Fund: $17,068.43, Asset Fund: $35,152.13, Banner Fund: $3322.93, Community Promotion Fund: $8,578.32, Fireworks Fund: $662.79, Local Road Fund: $95,938.99, Major Road Fund: $116,756.20

Ann Wrobbel made a motion seconded by Colleen Beemer to accept the Treasurers Report, roll call-all yeses, motion passes

Mr. Fribley is working on 4 properties, 3 are repeats, one has been referred to the Health Department.

Kim Wernette read the Cemetery Report: Kim sold 2 more cemetery plots, Cemetery clean-up is May 17, 2025, at 10:00 volunteers are welcome

Colleen Beemer read Pine Tree Park Report: May 10 is the 1st horseshoe tournament, softball starts May 18, 2025. Colleen received checks for horseshoe sponsorship, Ann will take them to the bank to cash them.

Bromley Park Report: The well is in, water samples are being done, once those are done, we can open the well.

Alice Ray read Research & Information: nothing at this time

Alice Ray read Pocket Park: Kevin is waiting on Randy to set the cement in Pocket Park for the flagpole

Community Activity Report: The Art Fair Committee needs a place for their next meeting, they would like to use the Village Office. The VFW is having a blood drive on May 24, 2025, The MET Application has been turned in. Fireworks donations are coming in, we have a new company this year, we need to contact them to get booked for next year, need to get portables set up for the 4th of July. We need to come up with some ideas for Act 51 non-motorized.
